Lawrence Hitches Written by Lawrence Hitches | AI SEO Consultant | June 24, 2026 | 4 min read

In June 2026 my site started getting cited for "AI SEO consultant Melbourne" across every surface at once: Google AI Overviews, the classic 10 blue links, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Same person, same facts, repeated by every engine. This is exactly how it happened, with the dates, the assets, and the measured proof.

Not a theory post. This is my own site, my own money keyword, and the receipts. If you want the short version: a six year old domain with real authority, re-engineered for AI citation in a 90 day sprint. The long version, and the repeatable method, is below.

The proof: cited on every surface

The arc: six years of authority, then 90 days of engineering

The win did not come from one page. It came from four eras compounding. Here is the whole arc.

the sprint
210The citation engineering: schema entity graph, EntityMap, llms.txt, the money page, the cheatsheets, the Claude SEO skills section, the discovery layer, performance, internal linking.

The lesson: you cannot skip the foundation. The 90 day sprint converted years of authority into citations. On a cold domain, you build the foundation first.

Why each engine cited me

They all assembled the same profile, because the same declarative facts repeat everywhere a machine looks: on the page, in the schema, in llms.txt, in the EntityMap, and on the AI instructions page.

  • Google AI Overview and Gemini pull from the entity graph, the extractable money page, and topical depth. The bio facts and the StudioHawk and awards link feed the "who is this" synthesis.
  • ChatGPT (Bing indexed) pulls the StudioHawk association and the money page positioning. The Bing visibility work fed this surface directly.
  • Claude grounds on the same structured, declarative content plus the dedicated Claude SEO skills section.

Consistency is the engine. Repeat the same true facts everywhere and every model returns the same answer.

The measured proof

I run everything through SEOtesting. Two numbers tell the story:

  • EntityMap drove a 50.2% lift site wide, the single biggest measured winner. Entity authority is the engine, not a nice to have.
  • The consultant page shows roughly zero extra clicks, yet it won the citation. That is the shift in one line: the value moved from clicks to being cited. See clicks to citations for the full first party data.

The method, if you want it on your site

This is the part you can copy. Seven phases, in order.

  1. Audit the authority you already have. Aged domain, this runs in months. Thin domain, build the foundation first.
  2. Build the entity layer: Person and Organisation schema graph, EntityMap, llms.txt, an AI instructions page. One identity, identical everywhere.
  3. Engineer the money page for extraction: declarative, self contained claims with proof, price, and a clear call to action.
  4. Build the topical cluster across the buying journey so the entity demonstrably owns the topic.
  5. Ship citation assets: dense reference pages and one specialist proof asset that gives engines the specific claim to repeat.
  6. Reinforce off site: employer and awards association, directories, correct any stale sources.
  7. Add discovery and measurement: llms.txt, EntityMap, the agent discovery catalog, plus citation and bot grounding tracking.

Entity authority is phase two for a reason: it is the engine. Citation assets supply the specifics. Consistency ties it together.

Frequently asked questions

How did you rank for AI SEO consultant Melbourne in AI Overviews?

By building a consistent, machine readable entity (schema graph, EntityMap, llms.txt, an AI instructions page) on top of a money page written in extractable, declarative claims, surrounded by a deep topical cluster. Google AI Overviews assemble the answer from those facts, so it cited me first.

Why am I cited in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude as well as Google?

Because every engine assembled the same profile from the same declarative facts repeated across the site, the schema, and the discovery files. Consistency is what makes all of them return the same answer.

Did this happen on a brand new site?

No. The domain is six years old with an established content base. The 90 day sprint re engineered that authority for AI citation. On a new or thin domain the foundation has to be built first, which takes longer.

Can you do this for my business?

Yes. It is a seven phase system: audit, entity layer, money page, topical cluster, citation assets, off site reinforcement, and a discovery plus measurement layer. The first consultation is free.
